Press Release
Technology and design professionals from across North
America will gather in Cavendish from October 24 to 26, 2003
for
The Zap Your PRAM Conference.
Organized and sponsored by Charlottetown-based web
development firms
Reinvented Inc. and
silverorange, the conference will gather librarians,
designers, webloggers, graphic artists, academics,
filmmakers, and programmers together to discuss their work,
their tools, and their ideas.
“Our goal for the conference,” said co-organizer
Peter Rukavina from Reinvented, “is to get
interesting, interested Islanders together with a diverse
group of interesting, interested peers ‘from
away’ for a weekend of talking about our common
concerns, ideas, and projects.”
“The ‘weblog phenomenon’,” said
Rukavina, “was the force that got us to start talking
about putting a conference together, many of the attendees
are weblog publishers, and much of the conversation will be
about weblogs, directly or indirectly. But we’re not
limiting ourselves to blogs -- they’re a jumping off
point for discussions, not the endpoint.”
The conference is based at the
Kindred Spirits Country Inn and Cottages
in Cavendish. There is a maximum registration of 40 people,
and the registration fee is $100, which includes meals. The
conference website, at
www.ZapYourPRAM.org, contains full information about the conference, the
program, and speakers, as well as an online registration
form.
The Zap Your PRAM Conference is being self-funded by the
organizers. Interested people are invited to visit the
conference website to learn more about attending themselves.
